People think that you’re not supposed to have an ego, but the reality is EVERYONE has an ego.
Having an ego is necessary, but an ego without humility to balance it out can be extremely hindering to personal growth and development.
You need to have the humility to realize you don’t know everything. The humility to genuinely listen, be a student, and learn from absolutely anyone and everyone.
When an ego is so large that it doesn’t leave space in the room for anyone else, that’s when it overpowers humility.
In my experience, when ego overpowers humility it’s because the ego is driven by fear and insecurity.
The greatest contributor to failed leadership is an imbalance between ego and humility. People who have an inability to learn from others will never be great leaders.
